The most useful things to tell us first are where the plot is, roughly how big it is, what you want to build and the budget you have in mind. From that we can give you a realistic range before anyone visits, and tell you honestly if the brief and the budget do not meet.

If you already have drawings
Send them. If you also have a bill of quantities we will price against it, which makes us directly comparable with anyone else you are talking to. If you do not have a BQ, we will tell you why you want one before you sign with anybody.
Before you appoint anyone
Ask for the NCA number and the category, ask who the technical director is, and ask for the insurer by name. Here is how to check the answers.
